2006 Global Challenge

July 21 to August 1, 2006
Pordenone, Italy
Maribor, Slovenia
Pula/Porec, Croatia

Day 0, Teams leave USA on July 21

Day 1, July 22, Teams Arrive In Venice, Italy
Teams immediately depart for Pordenone, Italy. All teams will have a practice session that evening and start settling in to the European time zone. 3 nights will be spent in Pordenone.

Day 2, July 23, Pordenone, Italy
Site seeing in Pordenone and its surroundings. Trainings and matches as well.

Day 3, July 24, Venice, Italy
Full day of sightseeing in one of Europe’s greatest cities. There may be evening matches for some teams depending on their wishes.

Day 4, July 25, Maribor, Slovenia
Non-USA Teams arrive to Slovenia for Opening Ceremonies and Tournament Check-in. Possible matches and/or trainings depending on time. Maribor is at least 4 hours by bus from Pordenone and we also have to cross the ITA/SLO border, which can cause delays. We will spend 5 nights in Maribor on the Pohorje Mountain with pool/spa privileges and daily access to the city center.

Days 5-8, GLOBAL CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT, Maribor, Slovenia
GLOBAL CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT BEGINS: July 26-29, 2006
Similar format to the 2005 Global Challenge, but there will be some evening matches “sold” to neighboring towns (10-30 minutes away) as well.

Days 9-10, July 30-31, Pula/Porec, Croatia
For the last two days, we will relax on the beaches of the Adriatic Sea. There will be options for matches with teams for the clubs that want to add a day of competition to the trip, but this will be seen mostly as a relaxing time for the players after a tough tournament.

Day 11, August 1, Teams depart for the U.S
Buses will most likely have to leave very early from the Croatian Coast to get teams to their departures from Venice on August 1. You will arrive USA the same day.
