The 2005 Global Challenge is a world class Boys and Girls Junior and Youth Volleyball Tournament with teams from the USA, Canada, Russia, China, and Slovenia. The Intermountain Volleyball Region (IVA) is hosting the event with the help of Bring It Promotions to create an annually rotating international tournament between the USA and a foreign venue to be decided every other year. The goal of the tournament and the Intermountain Region is to promote friendly games as well as allow the US teams to learn the international game of volleyball. Currently the Intermountain Region High Performance program is the only region of USA Volleyball to have taken teams overseas to compete. With the inception of this event the goal will be to foster growth of other Regional High Performance Programs with the hopes of others competing abroad in the “even” years.

In 2005 the event is hosted in Salt Lake City while in 2006 the event will be hosted in Europe (Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia). Salt Lake City will then host the event in 2007, with it returning abroad in 2008.
The tournament is designed to have both foreign and domestic teams compete in a worldwide competition that celebrates the youth that practice this discipline with the goal of enhanced performance and lifetime friends. Many of the athletes participating in this tournament will go on to play for their individual countries Youth, Junior, and Senior National Teams. The Global Challenge will provide them vital training in international tournaments to assist these athletes in meeting their future goals.
