I scream, you scream, we all scream for GELATO!

By: Meghan and Eva

Today was a day to remember. Our day started at 9:30, well it was supposed to start then; however, we decided to skip this minor part of our day and wait until 12:01pm to rise from our sheets. Lunch was interesting; the food was not up to par. We loved the miniature hot pockets; they were yummy in our tummy. Along the sidelines, Jeff and Jeff were not impressed with our first game and a half versus ZOK Mislinja. We didn’t play as well as we would have liked to, but we did manage to take them to a very tight and deciding third game. After this tragic loss, the team made a unanimous vote to never listen to the Jeffs. Just Joshing! We did make a turn around by winning the next game in two solid. Now the fun began. We ate loads of pizza, cotton candy, and ice cream. After eating, we went to this mini-festival in the middle of Izola. Lamm Chop decided to be a little sneaky and he tied us (Meghan and Eva) together by our scarves. It took us a good 5 minutes of Erin’s dexterous fingers to get us apart. Some of the girls bought jewelry. Kendahl bought glass earrings and a glass dagger necklace to match. Hopefully, airport security won’t notice her weapons of mass destruction. Eva bought a green BROS. Einstein looking hat. It fits her personality and her scarf perfectly. We also bought the Jeffs roses and placed them in their hotel mailbox. We even spritzed some of Eva’s perfume on them to add a special touch. The end because Timbo (aka Tip Top Timmy) says so!

P.S. Hi mom and dad x8.

Success in Slovenia

By: Chelsea, St Augustine, FL

Thankfully today, day three, began at 11:45am after we had a long night of sleeping. After our long night of team bonding in our rooms until about 4:00am we slept in until 11:00 and had our first match at 1:00. Of course, we won in two games. The game went smoothly and quickly, as we put our kills down to mount up the points. With our libero, Natasha, switching positions making a large change in our defense, our passing quickly improved to get great passes to Kamryn. Kamryn set the middle’s to help us gain the momentum. The momentum followed us to our second match which we also won in two games. Jen and Kirsten took control of the offense getting kills and points. After the matches and socializing with the opposing team from Sterisia, Serbia we packed up and waited an hour for our bus that never came. But the Serbia team was kind enough to allow us to ride on their bus to take us back to Izola. Getting side tracked on the bus we drove passed our hotel and didn’t notice. About a mile later (when we realized we weren’t in the right place) we asked them to stop and let us off. As we walked all the way back to our hotel we looked for pizzeria to eat at for dinner. As we arrived at our hotel, we dropped off our bags and went straight to the buffet. Some people went to a pizzeria we found on the walk back but others ate at the hotel buffet. Playing tomorrow at 9:00am is going to be a hassle, so we will crash early tonight! ( Hi Cierra we miss you!!)

Last Laugh

By: Kristin Adkison, St Augustine, FL

Today, like all others was a load of fun. We played around 11a.m. and the night before was even more fun. The girls had a huge amount of fun teaching Paige to dance. And even more fun watching a movie, Pulse, which scared Kim to death. There were so many laughs that the girls’ ribs hurt tremendously this morning. Many girls stayed up into the early hours of the morning, around 4 a.m. to be exact, socializing. It was definitely a night of fun. The walk to the gym was so much fun. We stopped to take a ton of pictures at numerous sites. We get to the gym and they tell us that we were supposed to play at 11 instead of 11:30, so we hustled and got ready and warmed up. We get out on the court and the team is amazing. They have a team of strong hitters and strong all-round players. It was definitely a well matched game. Elyssa, our setter, worked extremely hard picking up balls and setting up the offense. Jordan and Paige owned the offense, helping us keep up with many important kills. Our libero, Ariel passed up many key balls. It was a great effort by all players. We stayed strong even when the line up changed. I moved to right front, and Jordan hit middle front. We kept our cool and stayed strong. However, we just couldn’t pull a win. But I must say that it was one of the best games by far. We hustled, we worked together, we blocked, we were strong all-round. The intensity was amazing. We couldn’t have wanted that win more. The whole match was very close. First game was 21-25 and then second game was 23-25. We ended that match and walked back to the hotel where we ate, went to our rooms and left once again to watch the older team play, Team Florida. We watched one game of that and then we played our own game. It was a fairly good game; however we lacked the intensity of the first match. We pulled a win and all in all it was a good. The team was very nice to us and even game us their email asking for the picture we took with them. After that match, we once again went and watched Team Florida play. We then walked back to the hotel and decided to shower and look cute and go out. We all really wanted PIZZA!!! So we went to the hotel and all got dressed. However, some girls [not on our team] decided to use two hair dryers and blow the fuses on the third floor. Making getting ready hard for me, I think I was the only one who had trouble though.  We all met in the lobby and headed on our way. We got to the pizza place and ordered all the stuff we wanted. While we were waiting for our food we, once again, took many pictures. When we got our pizzas, they weren’t exactly what we ordered. Anyone that ordered pepperoni got peppers. It was quite interesting. However, all the food was good and none of us left unhappy. While in the restaurant there were many more laughs. Kim busted into laughter for a good five minutes which got all of us laughing. The girls, as usual, were hilarious and a ton of fun to be with. We were all going to go to the Hotel Marina and get in the whirlpool but decided that bed was a better decision. Now we just have to be prepared to be up by 8:45, sounds fun! Tomorrow is going to be another great day as we play one more match here in Izola and then head to Maribor. Oh, and by the way, sorry this is so long, I got a little carried away. (Hi to Coach Madden and Coach Power and my family!!)
