New Years Bask VIII
Venice, Italy to Innsbruck, Austria
December 27, 2011 to January 6, 2012
This year we will start the Bash in Venice, Italy to enjoy some incredible sight seeing and shopping. Navigating the small intimate streets of Venice while taking in the sights of the Grand Canal, St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge will be amazing. We’ll fly into Venice, then after sight seeing we will take a bus 90km (~1 hour) to Izola, Slovenia; a small gorgeous Adriatic seaside town where we will practice and play a friendly match with a local team. From there we’ll take our bus to Mislinja, Slovenia to play a match and have a wonderful traditional dinner in a small country restaurant with friends and music. Then we’re off to Maribor, Slovenia where we will have a few days of skiing and practice. A grand New Years Celebration on Dec 31 always leads to sledding down the Pohorje Mountain after midnight. Then we are bound for Innsbruck, Austria for a three day tournament and more sight seeing in the Alps, visiting the Golden Roof house and having traditional foods along the way.
Players need roundtrip airfare from the USA to Venice’s Marco Polo Airport (VCE) leaving the USA on December 26 to arrive in Venice on December 27. Return tickets should be from Munich, Germany (MUC) on January 6 to return home to the USA on the same day.
Price of the tour is $1850 + airfare and includes all ground transportation, hotels, team sightseeing and volleyball activities, as well as breakfast and dinner daily. Lunches will be “on your own” for 8 of the 10 days, with team lunches provided on at least two of the days.
