Day 3, Monday, January 10, 2004
By Mary Clare Coghlan (Towson University)
Today was our third day in Prague and it has been amazing. We woke up this morning for practice from 9-11 am. We were practicing with our teams, rather than by position and we did a bunch of competitive wash-drills. Doug is the coach for my team and we all mesh together so well. We came back to the hotel for a little rest and then headed over to play the best team in the Czech Republic: Olymp Praha’s Senior Team. They have the nicest facility that we have been to, and even have a full international regulation court. We got there at 1:00 and they had a real tasty lunch waiting for us; open-faced sandwiches with some really good cheese and spread and a pasta salad. They came a little late but we had so much fun playing some warm up drills and taking pictures.

Doug’s Team at Olymp Praha, thanks Standa!
We played 4 games and lost all four but we are playing so much better. The scores were 20-25, 17-25, 20-25, 13-25 so for the exception of the last game, we hung pretty well with these girls. They were all sweet girls but they could absolutely bang the ball and their coach is also the National Team coach for the Czech Republic.

Taking the Metro to the Czech Pub

The girls were ready for a big closing night at the Czech Pub!
We had some down time in the afternoon, and then a blow-out meal and party at the Czech Pub. Too much too tell. We head out to Vienna tomorrow morning. It really has been a great experience and the weather has been unbelievable. The hotel is good and we have pretty much taken it over. My roommates are awesome, one is my teammate and one is another setter so it works out very well! We are looking forward to continue our travels and competition.
