January European Exposure Tour '05

Day 5, Wednesday, January 12, 2004
By Courtney Shealy and Claire Thompson

Today we got to sleep in. It was wonderful. We were a little sore after sledding. Then Doug and JR’s team we to the gym to play two matches while Cory’s team went down the street to play a game. We watched Doug’s team play Rogoza, a smaller top division team from Maribor and they went 1-3 with them. Then JR’s team played Benedict, another top division Maribor-area team, and also went 1-3 with them.

After we all played our matches we met up at Padrino Pizzeria and ate pizza, pasta, and salad and played games at the table. It was a blast and a nice taste of something familiar to all of us. Then we all went back with intentions of going out - but the trip caught up with us and most of us passed out around 8 p.m. Not a huge eventful day but the weather was beautiful and the matches were fun and challenging. Tomorrow we get to sleep in again!

Editor’s Note: Cory’s team went 2-3 with Nova KBM Maribor. This is annually the top team in Slovenia, and also the current home team of Brook Coulter (Cal) and Candace McNamee (Cal), as well as our local Slovenian Cultural Attache at BIP; the lovely Jasmina Vugdalic. Many thanks to Nova KBM’s French coach Bernard for his short training experience with our girls after the match.
