Off to Innsbruck…

For Erin Brosz and I this is our second tour with BIP. Last March we met on the tour to Spain and had a great time. We havent got picked up by a team yet so we decided to go on the January tour to both see more of Europe and hopefully get picked up by a team for the second half of the season.
The January Tour is a lot different than March because there are a lot more girls and in January. The teams are in mid-season, so teams are looking to pick up players. (Maybe a European team realizes they need another hitter or one of their players was injured so they need a replacement.) So before going on the tour its important to know that at any point during the 10 days you could be “shipped off” to go try out for a team. Normally at a moment’s notice.

Our tour started in Prague, and already after the first day two girls left on a train to go to Felldkirch, Austria. I think they were very surprised that they were leaving already to possibly get on a team. Also one of the setters on the tour, Cayley, found out yesterday that she is flying to Spain today to train and tryout there in Cordoba.
The second day in Prague, Cory told me, “You are going to Innsbruck, Austria to try out for a team.” (That’s all he said). I was surprised but excited at the same time. Another girl on the tour, Bria, was told the same and is also going. So after 3 amazing days in Prague the tour is in route to Maribor, Slovenia. But first Bria and I are getting dropped off at the train station in Vienna to try out for a team in Innsbruck called VC Tirol..

So if we make it, we stay there. If not, we will meet back up with the girls to continue the tour. I’ve heard it’s a great city and there are already Americans on the team so I think it would be a great team to play for. It will be fun to actually get to try out for a team. Yeah I may be a little anxious, but hell, that’s why I am here. |
