Meet the Team – Match 1: USA Select “A”  vs. Riverplate


Julie Rubenstein (Pepperdine University) and Eliana Cirilli (Riverplate) 

Julie: How old are you?

Eliana: 18 

J: What position do you play?

E: Outside 

J: How tall are you?

E: 183 cm (6’0”) 

J: How long have you been playing volleyball?

E: 6 years. 

J: Where are you from?

E: Buenos Aires. 

J: What is your greatest volleyball achievement?

E: Winning the Argentinian League during the 2005-2006 season.  It was my second time in the finals.  Both years we played against our rivals, Banco Nacional, but this time we won. 

 

J: Do you go to school?

E: Yes, I go to University.   

J: What do you study?

E: Nutrition. 

J: Do you want to continue playing volleyball for many years?

E: “Ojala!” (Oh, how I wish) 

J: And after volleyball?

E: Something with my studies, nutrition. 

J: What is your practice schedule like?

E: We train 4 times a week and I play 2 games a weekend because I play with the younger team and also the 1st team. 

J: Are the practices hard?

E: Uh…yes, we train hard and they are very “dynamic.” 

J: What do you like to do in your free time?

E: Go out with my friends.  We go to the movies, out to eat, and dancing.
