Match in Morteros Argentina- USA vs. Argentina National Team
By Karly Sipherd University of Nevada
Today was a very interesting day. It seemed like it lasted forever because we woke up in San Francisco and drove a few hours to a new city called Morteros. Morteros is a quiet and sweet city, my favorite so far with the townspeople and all. We arrived and were able to have a quick and necessary practice and force our tired little bodies to move around and get the blood flowing. Then we went straight to lunch, where we had (big surprise) meat and cheeseŠ Yummy! Next we were on our way to a festival in the middle of town to buy really fun things, not to mention we had some cool experiences while trying to communicate to all the people... Everyone here is so nice and kind to us all.
After, we were able to take a well needed nap and rest up from the night before. People here stay up so late and wake up early, but the night life is fun and exciting! After our nap we had a snack and got all prepared to play in tonight¹s game. Once we got to the gym we realized there was no heat, so while in the locker room we had to figure out a way to keep warm meanwhile we could almost see our breath as we ran on the court. The match was our most successful so far on this tour, we won the second game and the fourth game was really close, and it was evident that we really felt the rush of adrenaline.

The crowd was great and got into it every time there was some good play. I love playing in front of so many great fans and the little girls love taking pictures and receiving our autographs after the match. In fact while I was writing this journal I was trying to communicate with this sweet little girl, Carla, who ran from the match to our hotel in order to give us a note of gratitude and for us to sign her piece of paper. I talked to her for about a half hour while everyone else was eating and we attempted to understand each other while enjoying a bottle of orange Fanta! Today was a long, but exciting day full of many experiences and laughs. Us girls all get along and love representing our country here in Argentina. Well Buenos Noches, I am off to bed.
