Day 6
In Villa Carlos Paz

May 27, 2007

Today was our first day of real rest due to our arrival in Villa Carlos Paz around 5:30 in the morning. We were more than ready to see a bed. Instead of rushing to bed just to awake for a new day of playing, we were able to sleep in a little before a long day of sight seeing. Morning still came fast. After breakfast we were off to see the beautiful
National Park
Quebrada del Condorito The bus trip was long, but well worth the wait. The mountains were really breath taking. We stopped at a little restaurant before reaching the top of the mountains. At the restaurant everyone took pictures, people tired different foods, and used the bano before continuing the trip up the mountain.

The rest of the bus ride we talked and sang to Charlie’s ipod. We finally reached the town of Miama Clavaevo, were we were allowed to walk around, shop, and be on our own for a little while. The town was pretty small and quiet. The shops were very unique and had a variety of interesting souvenirs. Being on our own for lunch made us break out of our comfort zone and fin for ourselves when it comes to speaking Spanish. This whole trip we have had translators that have made us come dependant, but not today. But don’t worry, we did not starve. We did our shopping and looking around and got back on the bus.

On the way back to the hotel the temperature dropped so fast and extremely low that we were unable to get off the bus to take pictures (it was about 22*F over the pass). So most of the way home we slept; since this was the day to catch up on sleep. We arrived back at the hotel and was given the rest of the afternoon to do as we wished. So we took the opportunity to relax, rest, and lay low for the rest of the evening.

My experience overall from this trip has been one that I could never forget. Between the volleyball, the girls, and the cultural experience I have learned so much. We as a team have become extremely close in the past couple of days. People would think we have played and known each other for years.
