Our Author struggling against the Nica block.
Greetings from San Juan del Sur! Today has been a very long day for most of us. It started by getting up around 8 o’clock this morning and going out to the lobby to eat breakfast. After which a few people went down to the beach to hang out for a while. We (Karlyn, Jen, Jenna, Kamryn, Chelsea, Mariah and I) all had fun playing in the ocean while the grownups watched us adoringly and snapped some pictures from the sandy shores. After we’d all had our fair share of the water, we went back to the hotel where some of us took quick showers to rinse off the sticky ocean water and then it was off to meet Tim to figure out the plan for the rest of the day.
When we realized that we had until 2:30 to do what ever we wanted before we met again for lunch, some people took the opportunity to go back to the beach, the pool, take a quick nap, or go out exploring to pretty little town.

Many thanks to Osvaldo and his staff and Pelican Eyes for their hospitality and service during our time in SJDS.
When 2:30 rolled around we all met up at this really nice restaurant, that was actually part of this extremely pretty hotel called Pelican Eyes, and ate lunch on a patio that overlooked the gorgeous bay. After a few laughs and some moans of extremely full tummies, the group finally headed back to the hotel to get ready to leave.

When 6 o ‘clock rolled around, the team loaded up the 2 vans we rented from down the street and drove the 30 minutes to the gym in Rivas. In one of the vans the ride was mostly quiet with the occasional conversation but was filled with mostly tired or sick people. In the other van, however, there apparently was a game of “Never have I ever” in which the girls learned some interesting things about some of the people on their team, some of these things were probably not something most people would want to brag about.
Anyway, when we finally got to the gym, everybody started getting prepared for the game. There was stretching and warm-ups, but we could all easily see how tired and truly unready for this game some people were.
The Nicaraguan National team arrived at the gym slightly after we did and they too went through the normal warm-ups. The game finally started and while the team put forth the best effort as possible, we lost in 3 games and after a couple people did an interview with the girls from the team, we left to go eat.

We came back to San Juan del Sur and went to eat at a nice little restaurant that was actually owned by the mother of one of the girls of the team we had just played. The food was pretty good but we were all glad to get to come back the hotel, take showers and go to bed to get plenty of rest because tomorrow will be an exciting day.
