Day 10 – Sarajevo

Northern Lights 16-1

            This morning was an early morning. We woke up at 8:15. We went and ate breakfast and after that we got ready to go on our tour of Sarajevo. We left around 9:00 for the tour. Our tour guides name was Zijad Jusufovic. He is a very famous person!!  He has several books and he has given tours to famous people. He has given a tour to Richard Gere. Our tour started in the bus and we drove around town and he talked to us about the history of Sarajevo. Then we stopped on a hill outside of town to look at all the graves of the people that had died during the war that happened about 10 years ago. And at the same time we saw the track that they used during the Olympics. So then we headed back down the hill and went downtown.

            We went down to the old center and saw many different things. We went to a Jewish Museum and we heard how the Jews were run out of Sarajevo. We went to a lot of different places. We went to a lot of churches and a lot of museums. Then we went to a little shopping mall in the town. There were many interesting things in there. Then we went into the older town again and that is where we left the tour guide and went to get lunch.

            For lunch we went to a pizzeria in the older part of downtown. It was so delicious!!! Between 10 girls we ate around 12 pizzas.  They were different instead of putting the sauce on the pizza the put it on the top and in the middle of it. But anyways after lunch we went on another tour to the embassy. When we got there we had to go through security. But that didn’t take that long. So when we got in there we got to go and sit in the big conference room. Three people came in to talk to us about what they do at the embassy. We had a cultural person there, a man that was the assistant to the ambassador, and then they had an intern there that was working there for 10 weeks. Then after about an hour we left the embassy and went back to the hotel.

            When we got back to the hotel we rested and got ready for our match. Then we left for the gym to go and play the club team from Sarajevo. We beat them in 4 games. They were a good team!! They are in division one in their club. After the game we went back to the hotel. Then we had supper, it was so good! We had chicken and rice. And for dessert we had pancakes with chocolate. Then after supper we just laid low for the night and just hung out. Then we went to bed at 11. Good night!!!
