Day 3 – Venice - Pula
By Greta Strenger
Northern Lights 16-1

After a good recovery from our “Night to Remember” run through Venice, we woke up refreshed and ready to see the beautiful city in daylight WITHOUT running! We had a quick breakfast at our cute hotel in a suburb of Venice, then walked to catch the bus to Venice.  It is such a beautiful city full of beautiful architecture and history.  We all bought our souvenirs and got a team picture in front of the San Marco Church. Some girls took a boat ride to see the city from the canals. After walking around with Corey, Adam, and Curt, we realized the city wasn’t that hard to get around…you just had to follow the signs, imagine that! These couple hours we spent in Venice were some of my favorite so far on the trip.

After shopping and sightseeing we all walked back to catch the bus. We were a little early so we waited in the shade. Luckily a couple minutes later Steph decided to remind the girls that we should probably go get a seat on the bus. The adults didn’t get the memo and ended up missing it! They joined the “I missed my bus in Venice” club along with Steph, Kelsey, Maddie and I.

While waiting for the adults back at the hotel we got a chance to sit down and use the computers.  Pizza came and we all ate in Corey’s room.  Then we were off to Pula, Croatia. The 4 hour bus ride included stopping at borders for our passport checks, a bathroom stop (Anna makes sure we get those in thereJ), and a ride through the beautiful countries of Slovenia and Croatia.

When we arrived at the hotel we were all surprised that the Adriatic Sea was right out our window!! Our hotel view was picture perfect. We unpacked and got ready to go to practice at a local school gym. After two hours of getting used to the Croatian volleyballs, we walked back to the hotel to eat and then fell asleep to the sunset outside our windows.
