Front Range
Day 7: The Road to Innsbruck
We woke up early and started our ten hour bus ride on the autobahn. After a four hour nap and a quick lunch we stopped at another one of King Ludwig II’s castles. It was definitely the most beautiful castle that Kristy has ever seen (although she has only seen two). It was a smaller castle but still it was so ornate and decorative with carvings, gold, and porcelain that it blew us away! He even had a lift to bring his table from the downstairs dining room up to his own personal dining room on the second floor. The tour was especially entertaining because of our tour guide, Martin. He seemed to keep all of us girls interested with his good looks and charm. The grounds of the castle were even more breathtaking than the castle itself. The grotto was like nothing I had ever seen before. It was manmade especially for King Ludwig II. It had stalactites and stalagmites, a lake, and a stage where he could watch plays that were put on just for him. It truly was one of a kind.
We loaded back up on the bus for the finish of our trip. The Austrian scenery is so spectacular. All of the tree covered mountains were so green. It was a great experience for all the Northern Lights girls, not living on the Front Range as we do. We arrived at our living quarters in a strange but modern circular building. We got our bags to the room and headed to a cute restaurant in the town of Innsbruck. We had amazing Weiner-Schnitzel and potatoes and met up with the Bavarian team.
