24th Annual Torneo International Tournament

This is the second year Northern Lights have completed in the Pordenone tournament. Last year the U18’s finished fourth place with a team from Northern Italy winning the tournament. This year there are 16 teams from nine different countries.

Northern Lights started the tournament in Pool B with the following teams:

Scores: NL’s won 3-0; 25-18, 25-22, 25-17

Match Two: Northern Lights vs. Switzerland Junior National Team

Scores Switzerland won 3-0; 25-21, 27-25, 28-26

Match Three: Northern Lights vs. Appio Roma

Scores: NL’s won 3-0; 25-17, 25-17, 26-24

NL’s took second place in the pool advancing to the second round.

Day Two:

The top two teams in each pool (8 total) advanced to the single elimination tournament on the second day. The following teams advanced:

Northern Lights played Asystel Novara in the quarterfinals.

Novara is one of the top club teams in Italy as its top senior women’s team plays in A1 (the top league in the world) Many of Novara’s players are currently part of the Italian Youth and Junior National teams programs.
