Day 5, March 24, 2005
By Calla Oftedahl
Now it is the end of day five and by far one of the best days yet. Today was a great day as we were able to see the great city of Venice. We were all very excited due to the unbelievable things that we gad heard about the city.

It all began this morning just a few minutes after seven, when we all awoke. Even though we had tons of sleep in our eyes and are muscles were aching there was nothing keeping us from continuing our venture to Venice. We jumped out of bed and began to dress in the finest clothing we brought. We then packed our bags and headed down to the first floor where we ate breakfast. After breakfast we grabbed our bags and packed them into the wonderful coach bus.
We boarded the bus and started off to our new destination: “Venenzia”. The bus trip was a little long, but more than worth the four hours. When we got to Venice we were surprised to see the lack of vehicles, and how peaceful the city was. We then went to the other end of town, on the city boat, which was known as a “ bus ” in the city. It took us approximately forty-five minutes to get to Piazza San Marco from the Piazzale di Roma, but we were able to see many historic buildings, and the great gondolas as we passed through the Grand Canal.

Once we were dropped off we walked in the city a little to take a team picture, the same place where we also fed pigeons. From there everyone was able to go their separate ways and go tour the city for themselves. We were given little over three hours and were told to meet back where we began.

Everyone enjoyed the city greatly, and found many souvenirs to bring back home for momentos. We then all headed back to the bus and began to board for we were done with Venice, and on with Pordenone.
We came to Pordenone about an hour later, and then checked into our hotels. We all unpacked our things and got ready for dinner which was hosted by the tournament. Another bus came to get us and we went to eat. The food was great, and we were able to see many other teams from other countries.
The team then bused back to the hotel, where we walked across the road to eat ice cream. This was about the sixth time the team had eaten ice cream on this trip, and by the looks of it, it will not be the last. All of us went back to the hotel, talked for a few moments and then went to bed, as we needed to rest up for the practice we have scheduled for tomorrow at ten.
All in all the day was wonderful. It was a day most will not forget about. The city in which only existed in photos now set in as reality. Now we are able to create our own photo to remember Venice by.
