Day Five

By Lauren Gibbemeyer, 16-1

We arrived in Prague today after a long adventurous five-hour bus ride and checked ourselves into a very luxurious hotel in the city. This hotel is unlike any other place we have stayed at since it includes a huge swimming pool, many activities such as a bowling alley and tennis courts, and a large spa and beauty area. Immediately, we headed out into the city for hours of site seeing. The first thing we noticed about the surroundings was that the architecture was much older compared to Amsterdam and Munster since it hadn’t been destroyed after the bombings of World War Two. We began at the Prague Castle and attempted to make the stone-faced guards crack a smile.

Afterwards, we took a stroll across the Charles Bridge that was booming with street vendors, selling all types of jewelry and artwork. Our next stop was at the old clock in Old Town Square where many were gathered around anxiously anticipating the striking of the hand at seven o’clock sharp. Once the time arrived, a skeleton figure pulled the clock’s chain while figurines danced inside. Although the clock itself is magnificent, the show on the other hand, was a disappointment.

Wonderful Prague

Arriving at the hotel once again, we were pleasantly surprised to find the entire Italian and French men’s baseball teams checking in. After we calmed ourselves, we got ready to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was satisfying enough especially after filling ourselves with many desserts. Lastly, we had the opportunity to meet the Austrian Youth National Team who were also dining in the same restaurant. Having a huge day ahead of us in the morning, we must be restrained to an 11:00 curfew for the night.
