This morning we had a big match at 11:30am. We played against CSU Targu Mures (Romania) and a win would put us in the semi-finals. Our goal was obviously to win both of these matches to go on and play for the championship. Otherwise if we lost we would only get the chance the next day to play for fifth or sixth place.
Well we did not show up to play and ended up losing in three. It was our worst showing of the whole time we had been playing together as a team. But we couldnt dwell on this. We would be playing the next day and all we needed to do was focus on our new goal, which was fifth place with a record of 7-1.
After the game we had the day to ourselves and we all split up and did our own things. Andrea Beck and I wanted to go downtown and do some shopping so we asked a few other girls and Jordan and Hilary decided to join us as well. We went around trying to figure things out on our own and find our way to the shops. We had a great time hanging out together and got a few souvenirs to bring home to our families. Pula is a great little city and it was a beautiful day.
We got back to the hotel to hang out and relax but then Andrea and I got a phone call from Tim and the coaches. They wanted to go with some of the girls to Rovinj; a little fisherman's village about 30 minutes away in the vans. At first we were nervous and didn't know if we were able to make a spontaneous decision, or if we could get ready quickly enough, but we decided to go and see where the night would take us.
We had a great time! I was so glad we decided to go. Andrea, Maile, Kelly, and I all went with the coaches and four of the girls from the BIP/USA Team. We took a boat tour on the adriatic sea, we had dinner right on the water in Rovinj. It was by far my favorite night. The views everywhere I looked were breathtaking. After such a bad start to our morning the day couldnt have finished better. It was something the four of us would never forget. |
