2007 Winners: The USA A2 Junior National Team

 

 

The 2007 European Global Challenge has come to a close, and we are very excited to report that an American team has won the Junior Division (the year named the "Brioni Division") for the first time in 3 years. The first year saw Samorodok of Russia take home the Junior Championship from Salt Lake City, while The Junior National Team of Croatia won in Maribor, Slovenia in 2006. This year the USA A2 JNT defeated the Italians of Spes Volley Conegliano in straight sets. Congratulations also to NovaKBM Branik Maribor (Slovenia) for winning this year's "Istra" Division.

 

The tournament was held on the Croation Coast in the gorgeous city of Pula. Hosting 16 teams from 7 different countries, it was a truly "global" competition. BIP is tentatively planning to host the 2008 European Global Challenge again in Pula, and with a new sports hall opening by October '07, we will have two great quality facilities (five total courts) within easy walking distance (less than 400 meters) of the hotel. Our goal for 2008 is to have 24 teams (with at least 12 non-American teams) and an even higher level than 2007.
