Global Challenge 2008 - Boys
July 31 -- Day 1 in Munich
By Brad Moore, Setter, OC Riptides

Today was our first day on the 2008 Global Challenge Tour. Most of the guys flew out of Orange County and we had a slight layover in Atlanta. The long trek from Atlanta to Munich was tough. it was about 9 hours and we couldn't have been happier to get off. We checked into our hotel and then headed out to explore a little. We went to the center of town and the coach's let us go out to explore as we wanted as long as we checked in at certain times. We went to the top of a tower of an old building (Frauenkirche Church) that could overlook almost all of Munich. It was amazing to see! We also walked around and watched the street performers and looked inside all the unique shops. Cooper and I bought some pretty gnarley glasses for only 9 euros. We learned about 10 phrases today of basic German that we have been searching for ways to use all day. Eric found out had to say "you're beautiful" and must of told it to 50 girls today.

On our way walking back the bus Will was not paying attention to where he was going and ran into a baby stroller with a baby in it (Editor's note: The baby was fine). The mom yelled omething at him but none of us knew what it meant. After dinner everyone was exhausted and came back to the hotel well before our curfew. We have been awake for about 32 hours so far. I cant wait
to sightsee more but am even more excited to start playing. We are playing a Division 3 rofessional German team tomorrow and everyone's stoked for the game and seeing what international volleyball is like for the first time.
