The “FireSale” 2005 August 13-23

The Men’s and Women’s Summer Camp/Tour 2005 will be a 10 night tour from August 13-23, 2005. They will run concurrently for the first time ever. As with last year, I want to stress that the market is not what it once was, so we can no longer “guarantee” jobs to players on the tour. What we can say, is that no players will be considered for jobs anymore without going on a tour. PLEASE read some past tour journals on the Tours Page of www.bringitusa.com before asking any questions about this year’s tour.

All players should be in Maribor, Slovenia at the Hotel Arena ready for evening training on the 13 th of August.

Maribor is best reached by flying into (in this order): Ljubljana, Slovenia; Graz, Austria; Vienna, Austria; or Trieste/Venice, Italy. From there, players take a train to Maribor, and then a taxi ($5-$10) to the Hotel Arena. You can also take the city bus ($1) instead of a taxi, and the Hotel Arena is very easy to find as it is at the base of the Pohorje Ski Mountain.

Players must RSVP obviously, but rooms will be reserved for players and be ready on their arrival day. Rooms in Maribor are not paid by the tour until the night of August 13 th. This means that all players that land before this day will have to pay for their own rooms. Players that come early may have a better chance of getting tryouts before the tour so any arrival date is allowed, but keep in mind that there weren’t too many tryouts before the tour in 2003 or 2004 so we don’t strongly suggest coming early as we used to.

We will start travelling on the 17 th and will visit some selection of the following cities:

Slovenia: Ljubljana, Bled, Kamnik
Austria: Klagenfurt, Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck
Germany: Munich, Ulm, Augsburg, Unterhaching

Interested players will need to submit a video (see “Video Protocol” on the News Page of www.bringitusa.com), a letter of recommendation from their coach, and a senior season media guide along with a short, informal volleyball resume.

All players also need to have a SIGNED PLAYER REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT (PRA) on file with Bring It Promotions before joining the tour. You can download a blank one of these on the “Media/Downloads” Page of www.bringitusa.com

All players will be responsible for arriving in Europe with a round trip ticket (ticket not included in tour cost) and will be responsible for arriving to the first night’s hotel on their own as spelled out above. Lunch, some dinners, snacks, phone calls and souvenirs are the players’ responsibility.

Due to overcrowding on past tours, and the lack of jobs available in the current market, we will attempt to accept only 14 players per team (Men and Women) on this trip. We will attempt to travel with 2 setters, 4-5 outside hitters, 2-3 opposites, 4-5 middles and possibly one true libero. We will not overload positions this year, but if we have excess demand, some players may be invited to join the tour at it’s halfway point (assuming that some players are placed along the way).

The focus of the 2005 FireSale will be training and playing top volleyball, and having each player learn and improve each day so that they have a chance to get a job. It is very important to arrive IN SHAPE as we will train double days for the first 3 days for sure. Sightseeing and going out at night will not be priorities as they have been in the past.

Players that do not have a job at the end of these 10 days will be on their own. You have the choice (of course) to stay in Europe and travel (and email me for updates on the job scene) or to go home and “wait”. Players that make the effort to go on tour will have a priority on all new jobs, but this tour DOES NOT guarantee a job. All players that want “job updates” after the tour understand that email is our #1 method of contact during the busy months of July-September.

The tour will finish in Munich, Germany on the 23 rd of August.

Please keep in mind that many players are also sent off on tryouts during the tour so there are options all over Europe – not only where we play. The 2004 Tours saw players sent to Spain, Holland, Belgium, Poland, France, etc. We’ll see the same type of thing this year I’m sure. The cost of these personal side trips is decided on a case by case basis. Generally the inviting team pays for the ticket. In some cases, the tour will pay, and in some cases players will be asked to pay. If this is the case, a player may of course decide not to go. It is important that the costs of all side trips (and the return costs to the tour if needed) be discussed between the player and tour leader (and team) before a player accepts any one-way ticket. The costs of food and lodging should also be discussed. Players are not given per-diem for their time on personal tryouts and players waive all rights to meals/lodging/transportation from the tour when on their own. As stated above, these costs are generally paid by the inviting team, but these details need to be clearly known on a case by case basis for a player leaves on a personal tryout or side trip.

Please also note that we will have visiting coaches and agents from several countries during the trip. One of the reasons for having the Men and Women together on this tour is to make it more advantageous for our friends and partners from Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Spain to come and see you train and play. We also expect coaches from neighboring countries to come and coach you (and hopefully hire you) as usual.

100% payment will be due by July 1, 2005 to reserve a spot for this tour. $200 of this amount is 100% non-refundable for any reason and none of the tour fee is refundable once a player has landed in Europe and either: 1. Trained with or visited any team. 2. Joined the tour for any length of time.

August Pre-Tour (Women Only)
August 8-13

We will have a "Women's August Pre-Tour and Training Camp" in Prague, Czech Republic from August 8 to 13. This is for rookies, players that are out of shape, and all players that have never been on tour before. On August 12 or 13 we will take a bus to Maribor to start the actual FireSale. Players that want to arrive on August 6 or 7 will be accommodated (at their cost) but anyone arriving earlier than that will be 100% on their own.

The Pre-Tour in 2004 was a great success, and we are really looking forward to a good experience for 2005. Last year several girls were even placed on the Pre-Tour. Please read the Pre-Tour Journal (see the “Tour Page” of www.bringitusa.com) to better understand what this entails.

$750/5 nights + $50/night for anyone that comes on August 6 or 7
