Today we left the volunteer base camp heading to the gorgeous colonial town
of Granada around 10am for our two-hour bus ride. We stayed at an AWESOME
hotel called Hotel La Pergola that had air conditioning, TV, hot water, and
NO BUGS! We were on our own for lunch and most of us split up into groups.
Many of us enjoyed shopping around the town square, which had many different
sales items and really cool architecture.

Around 3pm we left in horse drawn carriages to go to the boats that would
take us to the ~365 ³isletas² around Granada and Monkey Island. We all
crammed into the boats; kids in one and adults in another. We toured around
all the little islands where we saw nice houses and locals fishing and
bathing. We finally arrived to Monkey Island and they were SO cute! One was
named Spike and he was a cappuchin (³carablanca²) monkey with a white face
and black body. He liked the boat with the kids and shoved his face full of
the cashews. There was a spider monkey that went on the adult boat and sat
in Megan¹s lap. He also was quite the character and proceeded to put his
butt in Rico¹s face while scratching his private areas.

Once we came back to the hotel we could pick our own dinners and we all
split up. Many people went to Roadhouse Grill for more American style food
while some went for the more authentic and usual rice and bean Nicaraguan
food. After dinner many of us had a crazy last night in Nicaragua and had a
lot of fun!
