MEZVA Tournament 2008 / 2009

Last Day!
By Jazzy Orozco, Future BIP Tour Guide...

Ciao!  Last night was once of the highlights of the trip for me.  There were a couple mini-battles going on within our team.  One of these was between Steph and Tori, and ended with Tori’s mattress disappearing and miraculously reappearing in Ash and Carly’s bathroom.  Point for Steph. The other, between Jane and I, began with Jane coming out of the bathroom mid-shower and attacking people with conditioner.  It ended when Jane snuck into my room and hissed at Amy, thinking she was me, until Amy ran out of the room screaming.  I definitely won that one.

This morning we woke up around 6:45am and had breakfast before checking out of the training center.  On our way to the train station we took a “Rome in 1 Hour” tour.  Many thanks to Enrico and the staff of the Youth National Team for taking such good care of us! We got to see the St. Peter’s Square & the Vatican as well as the Coliseum, where we got hustled out of 5 Euros each for a picture with two men in tights and Trojan costumes. Then it was off on the train to Venice.

During the four hour ride to Venice we had individual meetings with our coaches to talk about the trip, our performance, goals, and overall experience while overseas.  When we weren’t in meetings we listened to Erica and Jane singing country music duets, took undeniably artistic pictures of ourselves on Tim’s MacBook, and listened to Tori talk about Twilight.

We arrived at our hotel in Venice at 2:30pm, had a quick change, and spent the remainder of the day sightseeing and shopping in the center. What a gorgeous city! We finally got our Italian pizza, and had more than our share of gelato. Overall, we had an AWESOME last few days, and a wonderful trip! Grazie a tutti!
