Meagan Dooley talks about the team's tour of Rome.
May 17, 2007
ROME, Italy - We got off to an early start this morning as we departed for the train station in Venice at 7:15 am.
There was a lot of unexpected traffic and despite our record speed van unloading and rushing around, we missed our train. Luckily for us, there was another one leaving at 11:30 that we were able to take. After a four-and-a-half hour train ride we arrived at our final destination of the tour, Rome. We spent our evening getting acquainted with the beautiful city and enjoying a long walking tour of many major landmarks.
It was amazing to see things such as the Coliseum, the ruins of the ancient Roman city, the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain and the Plaza del Popolo.
Things that we have heard about in class and only seen pictures of were right before our eyes. One word....breathtaking. Exhausted from our long walk and very hungry, we boarded the metro and headed back to our hotel for a dinner next door. An array of pizzas and pastas were placed before us and we finished every last bite. It was delicious. Check back tomorrow to hear about the final day of our tour in the beautiful city of Rome. Ciao!!
